CEC a transmis materialele pentru alegătorii care vor vota prin corespondență la scrutinul parlamentar

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today sent the necessary materials for voters who opted for mail voting at the parliamentary elections due on September 28.

According to CEC, after receiving the materials, the members of the Electoral Council for the overseas polling stations will send them to the four sections established for mail voting. Subsequently, the envelopes will reach voters in the ten countries: USA, Canada, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Finland, Japan, Republic of Korea, Australia and New Zealand.

In total, over 2,600 citizens registered to express their vote by mail at the parliamentary elections due on September 28. The most registered individuals are from the USA — 1,399 registrations, Canada — 682; Sweden — 166; Finland — 121;  Norway — 109; Australia — 57; Iceland — 38; Japan — 14; Republic of Korea — 13 registrations, and New Zealand — seven registrations.

Moldova enforced, for the first time, mail voting at the presidential elections and the constitutional republican referendum held last autumn. At that time, the way was used in the USA, Canada, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland. Thus, in the first round of the elections, over 1,300 people voted by mail and in the second — about 1,500.
